Last week, I was honoured to be invited back to the New Biochemistry Building, Oxford University, to give a “Designing Your Life” career talk after the collaboration with the Seirakake Lab on a 6-week group coaching program in the summer. Many thanks to Professor Seiradake and Jana Joha, President of the Oxford Biochemical Society.

During the coaching program and the talk, it was inspiring to observe how the scientific research mindset interacts with the design mindsets. It was also a powerful reminder of how much the world of work — and the way we think about our careers — has evolved.
We explored how today’s world of work is:
• More hybrid, skills-based, and purpose-driven
• Shaped by AI and digital transformation, yet increasingly human at its core
• A space where we can design rather than just find our careers
One of the most energising moments came from the mind-mapping exercise — seeing how quickly ideas expanded when participants gave themselves permission to imagine and connect different elements into new concept and prototype ideas.
We also reflected on how understanding these global shifts provides context and confidence to design careers that feel meaningful and sustainable — not only to survive but also to thrive in a fast-changing world.
If this resonates with you, I’m hosting a full-day “DYL Career Design Group Coaching Program” on 29 November, where we’ll go deeper into:
✨ Applying the Designing Your Life tools to explore different career paths
✨ Prototyping career experiments & create next action steps
✨ Building clarity, confidence, and community around your next step

Let’s keep designing — not just our careers, but the lives we want to lead.
